MindShare 2017: Behind the Scenes

We are three months away from MindShare 2017: Unite and the excitement is building. MindShare is SAF’s annual gala to raise money and awareness for programs in the Grand Rapids Public Schools. Funds raised support grants to purchase art supplies, library books, enrichment trips and so much more.

We are three months away and the volunteer host committee is meeting. January kicked off with two meetings of the 2017 host committee. The 24 member host committee comes together to make a difference in the lives of our children in Grand Rapids. They help us connect with prospective sponsors, offer advice on the event and serve as ambassadors of our story. SAF hopes to share this year’s event with over 600 members of our community.

We are three months away and GRPS students and teachers are preparing. MindShare is for and about our wonderful GRPS family. The students and teachers infuse their talent and creativity into every aspect of the night. Director of Fine Arts, Maggie Malone, has started working with art teachers and students to design table centerpieces that unite the room. And rehearsals are beginning soon for a performance unlike any other! (Shhh… I can’t say more, but there are great things being planned!)

We are three months away and the invitations are being designed.   The creative team behind our theme is five students from Ferris State University’s Graphic Design Program.   These students start meeting in February with SAF staff and will propose a theme, design social media materials, create invitations, programs and produce event visuals. For this year, the team was guided by the words: “The community is only as strong as its school district” and we UNITE together in our vision for the future of our students.

We are three months away from MindShare 2017: Unite. This year’s event is on Wednesday April 26th at the JW Marriott Hotel. We would love to have you join us! Interested in learning more or becoming a sponsor?   Learn more HERE.
