INVEST IN EDUCATION

Chronic absenteeism is down!

Test scores are up!

Graduation rates are rising!

To succeed and thrive in the 21st century economy, all students must have access to a robust and innovative education.

Through community support, the Student Advancement Foundation furthers original programs like WMEAC’s Teach for the Watershed. This program provides a hands-on and interactive sixth grade science curriculum, where students learn by doing. From stream testing for invasive species to building and using rain barrels at their schools, our students become engaged and proficient in the sciences. Students connect what they learn with real-world skills that are necessary for careers in chemistry, biology, geology and environmental engineering.

Please help us INVEST in education by attending MindShare: Transform and by pledging your support.

“Thank you so much. I love the book. I read it with my mom. MY favorite part is when the bird drops the little boy in his mom’s and dad’s arms.” — Alea, 1st Grade,
Sibley Elementary

ENRICH LIVES

Supporting reinvigorated music programs — from elementary strings to high school band!

More safe, healthy and comprehensive athletics opportunities for students of all ages!

Over $1.5 million in SAF grants for the 2014/2015 school year!

Recent GRPS graduate and college freshman, Eunice Eyamba is pursuing a career as a pediatrician. For Eunice, track was and continues to be one of her keys for success. She started running in middle school, and running helps her to stay focused in her school work.

“Sports have taught me self-discipline, which carries over to everything that I do. I really love how Grand Rapids Public Schools offers a variety of sport opportunities for students. If it were not for school sports, I’m not sure I would be here today.” — Eunice, Graduate,

TRANSFORM COMMUNITY

With 17,000 students, GRPS is the largest school district in West Michigan!

GRPS is a celebration of diversity with students who represent over 70 different countries and speak over 50 unique languages!

The most successful regions are distinguished by talent that is knowledgeable, creative and entrepreneurial.
— Talent 2025

Our society’s problems are increasingly complex. We need future workers and leaders who are prepared to find new and creative solutions. The students of GRPS are our future and through their innovative thinking our community is transformed.

“I Believe… I Become” is the mantra of GRPS students in the Rising Scholars Program. Through a community partnership with Believe2Become, students spend their summer continuing their educational journeys. Students learn and have fun while building rocket ships, creating robots and exploring the earth or jam on stage while exploring artistic abilities through music, arts and theater. The summer ends with a renewed commitment to maintain high grades and good attendance.

Please, help us TRANSFORM community by attending MindShare: Transform and by pledging your support.
