Libraries & Laptops
Bridging the Digital Divide
The SAF is partnering with the Grand Rapids Public Library to make sure Grand Rapids Public Schools students have available a computer with internet access, in a safe environment, outside of school hours and the school building. The program, Libraries & Laptops, is geared toward blended learning and other high school students.
Laptops designated exclusively for use by GRPS students are now available in five GRPL branches across the city: Main, Seymour, Van Belkum, West Leonard and Yankee Clipper. All five branches offer both evening and weekend hours. Students sign in with a GRPS student identification card and can then use the laptop anywhere in the library to work on school assignments. Laptops are already set up to easily access the primary sites students use for school work.
