In October, the Student Advancement Foundation (SAF) welcomed Meghan Bowlby to our team as the SAF Development Coordinator. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Often times I can get caught up in the small details, and need to be reminded of what really matters.
What do you like to do to unwind?
Sometimes I just need a day to do absolutely nothing, no plans! My favorite way to relax is to stay home all day watching movies and hanging out with my family.
Where would you go on a dream vacation?
Somewhere sunny and warm, with a beach or pool, no cell phone, and a good book!
Who do you most admire?
I admire both my mother and grandmother. I admire my mother’s strength and independence; she has become my confidant and best friend in life. My grandmother has always held a special place in my heart. She is the most selfless woman I know that would give you the last penny in her pocket to see you smile.
What is your #1 goal or New Year’s Resolution for 2017?
Wedding planning! I am recently engaged, and I cannot wait to get started on planning the ‘big day!’
What’s the best thing about working with SAF?
The best thing is knowing that the work I am doing each day is making an impact, and helping real families in our community toward a better, brighter future filled with opportunity!
Do you have any advice that you would give to a young person interested in a job in the nonprofit sector?
Go for it! You meet so many amazing people that want to make the world a better place. Don’t give up. Working in the non-profit sector takes time, hard-work and dedication until you find the perfect fit.
