Dear Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation supporters,
We have been monitoring the global outbreak of COVID-19. Our highest priority, of course, is to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of our staff as well as the community. To do this, we need to take action to limit potential exposure to the virus and create social distancing.
With this in mind, we have decided to follow the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), to slow the spread of the virus and protect the health of our team, their families and our community.
To that end, the GRSAF is taking the proactive step of canceling our historic Mindshare 2020 event scheduled for April 29th. This is a difficult decision for our entire organization as our staff, volunteers, and our Mindshare committee has been working so hard to make this an unforgettable event. Our concern for the health of all those connected to this community-wide event, including event staff, volunteers, GRPS students, faculty, and administrators, GRSAF staff, donors and the attendees, as well as their families at home, is what is of utmost priority at this time however and what lead us to making this decision.
Our staff will also be working remotely during this time starting March 13th and will continue to monitor this situation weekly and as it unfolds.
We recognize that these actions will be disruptive not only to our mission but also to our ability to support the students of Grand Rapids Public Schools. Our events are our lifeblood as they provide much of the funding needed for our students. However, the health and safety of our community is our priority during this unprecedented time.
Thank you for your continuing support of the Foundation and our students at Grand Rapids Public Schools.
